Exploring the mountains never feels adventurous enough when you spend most of your day running into ladies in stilettos, climbing hills that wouldn’t pose a challenge to a pensioner. So we aim higher and further, showing the side of Tatras that only adrenaline junkies are bold enough to see.
There is a number of individuals, and companies, which cater to these requirements and we’re proud to say, some of them are right here and waiting to show you what many tour operators shy away from advertising in their package tours, most likely because the insurance company they’ve partnered up with politely told them to, err, forget it.
Among the favourites are trekking, bungee jumping, mountain biking, sky walking, and during winter season, off-piste skiing and snowaboarding. Zakopane played host to some of the first ever international winter sports competitions and following a tough period since 1945, it is once again rebuilding the strong foundations of a great skiing nation.
Legends which plied their trade among these peaks include multiple world champions and olympic gold medallists like Kamil Stoch, Justyna Kowalczyk and Adam Malysz. There is, however, a new school of thrill seekers coming through with sports like free riding, snowcross and ski biking making headwaves in the region.
