Highly recommended route, mainly because of the great vantage points, one of which undoubtedly is the Wielki Kopieniec. The trail is very easy and accessible for everyone. The trip begins in Jaszczurówka, where there is an outlet from Dolina Olczyska (Olczyska Valley). Before the start of the trip you can visit the unique wooden chapel which was built in the years 1904 – 1908 and designed by architect Stanislaw Witkiewicz – the creator of the so-called “Zakopane Style” of architecture.
We pass by the Centre of Active Amphibian and Reptile Conservation TPN. The resort can be visited here along with an educational trail. Next we walk the trail along the Potok Olczyski (Olczyski Brook). We come to the Polana Olczyska (Olczyska Glade – 1037 m a.s.l), a good place to stop (tables and benches provided) and another place of interest here is the Wywierzysko Olczyskie (Olczyskie Spring). We return to the green trail, cross the bridge on the Olczyski Brook and start a steeper approach, which brings us to the picturesque glade Kopieniec (1240 m above sea level) – one of the traditional spots for sheep grazing in the Tatras.
Old shepherd’s huts stand here to this very day.At this point, we can turn, following the green trail to the nearby Wielki Kopieniec which offers a vast panorama of the High Tatras, or continue the tour without gaining the summit. We come to the red trail (the last section of the trail: Mickiewicz Waterfalls – Psia Trawka – Toporowa Cyrhla), which from this point runs parallel with our green trail. The route ends at Toporowa Cyrhla, leading out on the Oswald Balzer road (Zakopane – Morskie Oko). We can walk to the bus stop, walk to Cyrhla or descend on Jaszczurówka.
